JAG Report February 2012

Starting from the most recents activity, this past weekend of Feb 18th &19th had the U14's & U13's  attending the Junior Leadership Camp at Camp Elin. We had 7 Juniors and 2 chapparones attend from Crowdy. We arrived 7.30am on Saturday and departed 3.00pm Sunday. There were an array of activities planned for the kids such as rock climbing (wall), water slide, canoeing and a bush walk. The kids were divided into teams and had to earn points to win the competition. There were 30 kids plus the team leaders that participated in the camp. Five of the Crowdy kids walked home with a prize for the winning team (Flynn & Isaac), Cody H, Sarocha M & Abby D getting the prize for inspirational behaviour from each of the lesser placed teams. The kids seemed to have a good time and were tired by the end of Sunday. Jack & Lochlan had a good time and thanks to Dave Hancock for help chapparone.

Nippers carried on as usual with perfect conditions, reduced number of age manager & water safety, but a good turnout of juniors. From all the reports the kids had a good time doing a number of activities. Our 2nd and final points score is on this Sunday Feb 26th. On the following Sunday March 4th we are having Old Bar come for their annual visit and that also happens to be Clean Up Australia Day. Last day of Nippers is on Sunday March 11th and raffles on Friday 2nd & Saturday Mar 3rd asking for volunteers to help on both days.

On the weekend of Feb 11th & 12th the branch had its carnival at Forster. We had 20+ juniors and 10 seniors enter the competition. I must admit, I thought that we would have had more juniors enter. It is good to visit other beaches and engage in some friendly competition. The juniors came 5th and seniors came 2nd. I want to thank all whose who participated, coordinated and officalled I think we had fun and the weather was good.

The NSW Country Championship where held Jan 13th to Jan 15th. There were 5 Juniors that participated with mixed results, but acted as a good learning experience for all
