The Nippers 2011/12 Season begun on earnest on Sunday Oct.9 with the sun, the surf the weather all coming together to make it perfect for the first day.
The ladies minding the table doing the regos, getting the kids signed in, giving information & writing receipts and selling swimwear all did a fabulous job.
The age managers were gathered together and the morning was plotted out after introductions. We have some new age managers, some are doing the Bronze course and some where away.
We are trying to have at least two age managers for each group, thust we had to adjust and make do and all worked out fine.
We are still incouraging parents to help out as many hands make light work. Water safety were there in numbers and for ever helpful with all the groups that hit the water and with some proficiency swims that we conducted. Just remember that if not for the water safety and the surf patrol we don't get in the water. FUN was the key word for the morning and judging by the smiling faces and laughter coming from the kids and the general comments that fun was had by all. I think everyone should give themselves a pat on the back for making the day an enjoyable experince for all.
On Tuesday afternoon we began our general training session with seven youngsters eager to practice. The beach was still as it was on Sunday just a bit cooler and overcast. As with the changes for conducting any water activity water safety and risk assestments were in place. I would like to thank everyon that helped on Sunday and Tuesday. It was and is a big effort to volunteer your time to help out.
I would like to get more parents/families to help out with the Friday night Joker Jackpot and Saturday Raffles at the Harrington Pub, it is not to hard just a couple of hours at most. Please consider giving us a hand.
Yours in Nippers
